COURT ADVOCACY

Between Friends' Court Advocacy Program assists women in navigating the legal system to obtain Orders of Protection against their abusers. In addition, our advocates work with local law enforcement and legal professionals to educate them about domestic violence and to provide resources for victims.
  • Advocates explain the court process, assist in filling out paperwork, and accompany victims as they appear before a judge to obtain an Order of Protection (OP)
  • Chicago advocate assists with Civil and Criminal OPs
  • Advocates in the District 3 courthouse in Rolling Meadows assist with Civil OPs
  • Provide emotional support and referrals to shelter, counseling, employment and legal resources.
