ADVOCACY
Between
Friends' Court Advocacy Program assists women in navigating the legal
system to obtain Orders of Protection against their abusers. In addition,
our advocates work with local law enforcement and legal professionals
to educate them about domestic violence and to provide resources for victims.
- Advocates
explain the court process, assist in filling out paperwork, and accompany
victims as they appear before a judge to obtain an Order of Protection
(OP)
- Chicago
advocate assists with Civil and Criminal OPs
- Advocates
in the District 3 courthouse in Rolling Meadows assist with Civil
OPs
- Provide
emotional support and referrals to shelter, counseling, employment
and legal resources.
